Self Portrait of Stefan Neville

Born 1974, Auckland

Stefan Neville is the chief facilitator of Oats Comics, New Zealand's most enthusiastic proponents of the minicomic revolution.

SInce 1993, the Oats group have been turning out an incredible number of minicomics - from anthologies Oats and The New Dixon to the infamously bizarre Dad & Tracy. The most prolific Oats cartoonists include Stefan Neville and his sister [[Indira Neville], Clayton Noone, Glen Stewart and John Arcus. Oats are first and foremost a group of friends; their comics are as much a social event as an individual expression.

Most of the Oats cartoonists are also involved with bands and regularly release tapes and small runs of vinyl records with handmade covers. Stefan Neville plays in such bands as Pumics, Teen X-Ray, Casagrante Apparatus and runs Stabbies and the ROcket Recordings.

After "Five years on the dole making music and comics", Stefan Neville became eligible for a full wage subsidy and began working for Fink, a weekly entertainment guide.
