Issue #1 (2006-08)
spontaneously respond to a posting by a small store owner on an obscure NZ notice board with a half arsed desire to put together a comic with a couple of your own drawings in it. Ask if anyone else wants to be invoved, be bombarded with so much quality you can't back out, spend three or four days learning the publishing programmes/business and hope distribution proves easier..."
This was produced in under a single month, from the initial call for submissions in July 2006 through the Black River Digital message board, to its publication in August 2006. Contributions range from one-page gag strips to multi-page streams of consciousness, and include several Fred the Clown strips from Roger Langridge, a one-page 24-panel jam comic by Funtime Comics and a detailed list of incomplete projects from Dylan Horrocks.

Son of Pictozine (2007-01)
The call has been made by editor David Bradbury for contributions to the second issue of Pictozine. David let us know who signed on so far:I've yet to chat with all the stars of the first issue but some have already signed on for more: Tim Danko, Grant Buist, Robyn E Kenealy, Craig Gillman, Roger Langridge, Brent Willis and Funtime Jam are all back for more punishment.
Also Darren Schroeder is going to one on his own and his 'mate' M Emery will too; Marc Barnes will find time between his webcomic and pavement art; Debra Boyask is coming out of exile/retirement in the home country; Derek Flores is from Canada (now in Wellie) and comics when not fringe comedying; Mark Gray is sending up a short from Nelson; Jess Johnson will amase you from Melbourne; Jared Lane will squeeze one out between Progress and new baby; Craig Peterson has a short strip in mind; Chris Slane now has a hobby to take him away from politics; Corn Stone's enormous footprint takes in yet another enzine; Mat Tait has a prologue (issue 0?) for his upcoming epic; Carlos Wedde promises something tangible and current; Jeremy Woods has some one panel gags from Napier; and Sarah is now settled in Wellie after her NY sojourn (and you should see her portfolio!); Kate Morris will send up some stuff (but what?) from the deep south; Wellington based Chicagoian Rick Menard will provide some cartoons; as will Aus based Kiwi Jason Conlan; Garth Thornton will debut a two pager computer rendered gag; and if I can stop typing I'll try to get something done myself...
If you want to contribute contact David via mailto:bradbury@paradise.net.nz
